Book Review for Nora Robert’s “The Obsession”
I got this through the mail since I’m signed up to receive all of Nora’s new releases, so the signed hardback version is safely on my bookshelf. I downloaded this on audible though since I’ve become such a huge fan of audio books.
I was completely and utterly hooked from the first paragraph’s of this book! It was a thrilling ride all the way through that had me both nervous and excited as I read it.
A quick summary; Naomi follows her father into the woods one night thinking she will be sneaky and find out what he’d got her for her birthday. What she finds isn’t a present, but something so horrible she can barely even comprehend it. Her life is forever altered at that moment and though she tries to put the past behind her, it has a way of sneaking up on her again and again.
Now, for the mystery of it, I did figure out the villain before the book was over, but since I get super anxious when reading mysteries, I was okay with that. I want some excitement in my romances, but too much and it’s not a romance for me anymore. This was the perfect mix for me. Absolutely perfect. The heroine was strong and likable and the hero, Xander was sexy, strong and just the right amount of a mix of alpha and a secure, nice man.
Neither of the characters were your typical romance characters and the other characters in the book added a nice richness to the story. I was sad to see it end as I listened to it straight through, unable to stop the story. I even brought the iPad into my bathroom and propped it on the wall while I showered. Just couldn’t stop listening. I am looking forward to another great story next. 🙂
